Suggested Activity

Case Study: Each group of students receives a family scenario and follows the instructions below. 

Supplies: Case studies and Reasoning Web Worksheet. 

  1. Place the data into the Family Reasoning Web categories. 

  1. Identify a family nursing diagnosis for each category. 

  1. Draw arrows between categories to show the direction of influence if the data in one category influence the data in another category. 

  1. Identify desired family outcome(s) or goal(s). 

  1. Identify possible nursing interventions to meet the goals.  

  1. What questions could you ask to evaluate whether your outcomes were achieved? 

  1. Review the booklet on family construct nursing actions. Select three constructs and create specific questions you could use to assess for the construct within the family in your case study.
